Building a Secure, Cloud-Native Foundation for Long-Term Expansion
As a digital platform operating in a regulated environment, a finance company required an infrastructure that could support growing transaction volumes while maintaining reliability and security. However, legacy infrastructure limitations made it challenging to scale the platform.
To address these challenges, they partnered with Insignia to migrate and modernize its infrastructure on AWS.

Challenge
Scaling a Legacy Platform Without Disrupting Operations
Their existing environment limited its ability to scale efficiently and respond quickly to business needs. Infrastructure management was largely manual, deployments were slower, and system reliability depended heavily on operational intervention.
The primary challenge was executing a cloud migration without service disruption, as well as preparing the platform for long-term scalability and stronger security. A phased approach was required to reduce risk and ensure business continuity.

Strategy
Phased Migration and Cloud-Native Modernization on AWS
Insignia designed a two-phase strategy that balanced speed, stability, and future readiness.
Phase 1: Establishing a Secure Cloud Foundation
The initial phase focused on migrating existing workloads to AWS using a lift-and-shift approach to minimize downtime and operational risk. A robust cloud foundation was established using Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency. Key focus areas included:
With a stable cloud foundation in place, the second phase focused on application modernization. The architecture was transformed into a container-based environment to support scalability and faster releases. The modernization strategy emphasized:
Phase 1: Establishing a Secure Cloud Foundation
The initial phase focused on migrating existing workloads to AWS using a lift-and-shift approach to minimize downtime and operational risk. A robust cloud foundation was established using Infrastructure as Code to ensure consistency. Key focus areas included:
- Migrating workloads to AWS with minimal disruption
- Designing a secure network architecture using VPC
- Deploying core services such as storage, content delivery, and security
- Implementing centralized logging, monitoring, and protection.
With a stable cloud foundation in place, the second phase focused on application modernization. The architecture was transformed into a container-based environment to support scalability and faster releases. The modernization strategy emphasized:
- Migrating applications to a container-based architecture using Amazon EKS
- Implementing CI/CD pipelines for faster and reliable deployments
- Enhancing monitoring, security controls, and autoscaling
- Supporting multiple environments to enable structured development and release cycles

Outcome
A Secure, Scalable, and Cloud-Native Platform
The modernization initiative strengthened their platform foundation. It scales seamlessly as business demand grows, while at the same time allowing application releases to become faster through automated CI/CD pipelines. As deployments are now more consistent and less dependent, it provides clearer visibility into system performance, so the teams can respond to potential issues proactively.
In parallel, the shift to a cloud-native architecture on AWS improved their security posture in line with cloud best practices. Also, infrastructure automation helped reduce operational overhead.
